Film Reel Therapy

A Mental Health Movie Processing Group

Film Screening & Discussion

Film Reel is a movie screening and discussion group aimed at building connections and using movies to help us process the world today. We see movies as an entry point to fostering community and mental health growth. This is more than just a movie screening, it’s a place for gathering in a world where third places seem to be disappearing. Come join us for a unique and engaging experience at For Real Therapy, hosted by licensed therapist, Daniel Westheimer. This movie group offers a space to explore the world through film.

Join us before the film to make new movie friends and bond over your love of movies, then watch the film together in FRT’s beautiful atrium After the screening, the groups facilitator hosts a discussion where we explore the films themes together. Film Reel aims to help you get a deeper understanding of the film and the world around us, while also providing a space to foster friendship.

This Month's Movie Themes: In honor of the 97th Academy Awards, FRT is screening 1943’s Casablanca. A film that says “you must remember this,” as we look back to see how a film from the past can have something to say about today. Casablanca deal with timeless and timely themes of challenging the pull of isolationism, fighting back against fascism and totalitarianism, and the power of community.

FRT will be offering a raffle for a poster for this classic melodrama!

Doors open at 6:30pm
Event starts at 7:00pm
